Dear Readers,
Dear Colleagues,

Grażyna Kamińska-Winciorek

Dermoscopy and other skin imaging techniques have become an indispensable tools in clinical work and scientific activity of many doctors in Poland, who are well-qualified and constantly improving their skills in non-invasive diagnostics not only of cancers, but also inflammatory dermatoses, infestations or connective tissue diseases. The non-invasive imaging techniques, such as dermoscopy, trichoscopy, reflectance confocal scanning microscopy, skin ultrasound and capillaroscopy are constantly developing, increasing the range of indications for their use and thus they quickly become widely popularized, not only in the world, but also in Poland. Many Polish experts were involved in the propagation of this knowledge, so Poland is currently ranked among the countries in the forefront in this field. The growing interest in dermoscopy in Poland contributed to the establishment in March 2018 of a new Section of the Polish Dermatological Society — the Section of Dermoscopy and Other Skin Imaging Techniques (DiTOS).

On behalf of myself — as the Chair of the DiTOS Section — and the Board of the PTD DiTOS Section, I have the great honour and pleasure to invite you to the 1st Conference of the PTD DiTOS Section that will be held in Gdynia on 15–16 March 2019.

We have prepared the program discussing current dermoscopic issues and other techniques of skin imaging: from differential diagnosis of lesions in glabrous and hairy skin, to mucous membranes and nail plates.

Moreover, we have invited the group of excellent lecturers — not only outstanding Polish experts, but also our special guests, Professor Giovanni Pellacani and Professor Aimillios Lallas, who will discuss issues related to imaging diagnostics in dermato-oncology and general dermatology.

The main idea of the 1st Conference of the PTD DiTOS Section is the exchange of experiences, gaining a new perspective on problems discussed and sharing of the knowledge during a two-day meeting including lectures and poster presentations.

Bearing in mind that we are from different cities, academic and medical centres, we chose modern and rapidly developing Gdynia for the place of our first conference.

I invite all of you who share a passion of discovering things that cannot be seen with the naked eye to participate in the 1st Conference of the PTD DiTOS Section in 2019.

See you in Gdynia!

dr hab. n. med. Grażyna Kamińska-Winciorek
Chair of the PTD DiTOS Section
